INSPIRE【BLOG ENGLISH】

Latter half of August 2021 had started.

Since the start of COVID-19 pandemic, we have hardly been able to leave our houses. I haven’t been outside of Singapore (excluding Japan) for almost two years. It really seems like a dream that I used to go abroad twice a month. During my stay-home period, I have been using the Internet to get and send out information, which makes me think that it would be the same no matter where I am. The longer I spend at my desk, the more I feel the special aspects of Japan as seen from a foreign media and their data.

【Desire Common Experiences】

I am fortunate to have been able to make use of the personal connections which I have cultivated around the world. I can understand data obtained from the Internet more clearly when I talk and hear their voices through Zoom conversations. After all, the experiences of actually going to the place, meeting in person, seeing the same things, eating the same food, and communicating with each other creates a kind of common foundation of thinking. That’s the reason why I desire to accumulate common experiences with others. In some parts of Europe these days, those people with two doses of vaccine can travel almost freely. Singapore might also lift up the entrance bar for certain countries staring around September (Not sure if Japan will be included or not).
I am now planning to explore some new countries.

【Different Economic Situations in the World】

Looking at the current economic situation in the world, several countries have recovered economically from COVID-19 and are considering whether to raise interest rates due to the recovery in employment and inflationary trends, and some have already started tapering (reduction of central bank asset purchases). While those countries are struggling with inflationary trends, Japan shows little sign of inflation and seems to be far from overcoming deflation, which has been aiming for since Bank of Japan Governor Mr. Kuroda’s bazooka (super monetary easing measures) was launched in April 2013. It is almost enviable that other countries are struggling to cope with inflation. I feel that the gap between Japan and other countries that have responded to COVID-19 infection as if it were wartime, and Japan that has not been able to respond boldly because of the Olympics, has become quite large.

【Inspired by the Olympians】

There are reports that if other countries had been scheduled to host the games, they wouldn’t have succeeded. I can’t imagine any other country hosting the Olympics either. Though we ended up watching the games on TV from our living rooms, many of us enjoyed watching great matches. The overseas Olympians were also grateful for the hosting of the event. Inspired by many impressive memories and excitements from the Olympians , I am steadily working on my next project.
